3rd Trimester Products To Make You More Comfortable

Ask any pregnant women and they will tell you the third trimester is the most unbearable and longest trimester.

As your uterus grows bigger by the day, so does your baby.

An expanding uterus puts pressure and pain on places of your body you never had before.

But thankfully there’s pregnancy products you can buy to alleviate your unbearable aches and pains.

Let’s look at 15 products to make third trimesters pregnancy life more comfortable till you give birth!

Nursing Bra’s

Some women do buy nursing bra’s before the third trimester.  However, I’d advice against it.  The reason why…

Your breasts will continue to grow all the way up till the day of delivery to prepare for breastfeeding.

After delivery the breasts will continue to swell as your milk comes in.

Because of this I saved buying new nursing bra’s until the very end of my third trimester.

Although you can purchase a nursing whenever you want, just make sure they provide support and comfort for your growing girls!

If you don’t fill like always wearing a nursing bra and saving a little money you can always buy a maternity top with built-in nursing bra.

Nursing Nightgowns

Along with a nursing bra you may also want to buy a nursing nightgown for nighttime feedings.

Nursing nightgowns make breastfeeding easy and comfortable with a one-handed clip straps.

Even if you plan on formula feeding, breasts pain is a serious discomfort during the nighttime hours.

A nursing nightgown will help keep your breasts secured and comfortable to reduce irritation and help manage pain.

Yoga Ball

A yoga ball is also known as a birth ball.  It’s used as a birth ball because many women use them to assist with labor and pain.

But a yoga ball is also a dream to use during the third trimester.

With the extra weight of from the baby that’s increasing daily, your lower back and hips take a lot of strain!

That hip and back strain can be relieved with a yoga ball.

Sitting, lightly bouncing and moving your hips in circular motions does wonders for relieving discomfort.

Comfy Sneakers

During my first pregnancy and now for my second pregnancy, my feet hurt.

From the extra weight, my second baby is giving me sciatica pain that travels down my left leg.

On top of that, my feet grew during my first pregnancy.  I went from a size 9 1/2 to a 10!

Up until my first pregnancy, I though feet growing during pregnancy was just a myth.  But I found out the hard way.

Since you need to take some extra steps anyway, a comfy pair of sneakers is great for aching feet!

It’s best to reduce your use of wearing flip-flops and other shoes with no arch support.

If you’re needing new shoes, pick shoes with arch support and comfy, plush insoles.

Belly Belt

A belly belt takes the pain and strain off your hips and lower back.

I use mine at times when my sciatic nerve is causing too much pain to walk.

They are perfect for anytime during the third trimester and up until birth.

If you plan to do extra shopping or going on vacation, a maternity belt will help alleviate the strain placed on your back and hips.

It also helps to lift your baby off your bladder.

Heating Pad

A heating pad comes in handy to reduce pain in your back.  It even helps with leg cramps!

I find the best way to relieve leg cramps is to prop my feet up and place a large heating pad underneath my calves.

Sometimes extra warmth will promote circulation to decrease cramping.

Labor and Delivery Gown

This is more of a luxury item, but hospital gowns are gross!  They’re scratchy, never fit right and fall off in places you don’t want them to.

I just ordered a labor and delivery gown for with a beautiful flower pattern from Baby Be Mine

The best part about the delivery gown it’s easy to breastfeed from and has snaps in the back for easy access for an epidural.

Breast Pump

If you plan on breastfeeding, a breast pump is something you definitely want to get during the third trimester.

There’s many questions to ask yourself when buying a breast pump:

  • Do I want a double or single breast pump?
  • Which brand do you prefer?
  • What features do you prefer?
  • Does breast pump have good suction?
  • Is the breast pump highly rated by other pumping mama’s?

Shopping for a quality breast pump is a little stressful.

There are a lot of bad breastfeeding products on the market today.

Dates

Yes, dates the fruit!  From 36 up until you give birth, dates are an excellent food to consume to relieve constipation and provide you with energy.

However, dates go beyond just easing constipation.

Research studies have linked eating dates to a more healthy and beneficial labor!

According to multiple research studies, dates can help:

  • Cervical ripening or dilation
  • Shorten labor
  • Avoid Pitocin or induction

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

Along with eating dates, red raspberry leaf tea is able to help aid to a quicker labor.

Since my first birth was 28 hours with a host of problems, I’m looking for anyway the second time around to help give me a better labor experience.

Red raspberry leaf tea is considered the go-to herbal tea for uterine health.

It works by strengthening the uterus, which in turn will produce more efficient contractions.

Foot Spa

This is simply a pampering item for you mama!

Pamper those tired and achy feet by purchasing an at-home foot spa to provide comfort whenever you need it!

Compression Tights

Some of the biggest problems in the third trimester are leg cramps, varicose veins and ankle swelling.

Fortunately with a little compression applied to the legs, these symptoms can be reduced.

When I think of compression garments I always picture ugly compression socks my grandmother use to wear.

Thankfully, we pregnant women have much more stylish options.

You can find maternity compression wear in the form of tights, leggings, pantyhoes and socks.

That way you don’t have to be stuck wearing compression socks all the time!

Massage Roller

A massage roller can banish those awful body aches!

Plus, releasing all that extra tension with a deep tissue massage will relieve stress.

If you don’t know what a massage roller is… It consists of free spinning rollers on a stick that can be rolled across aching muscles.  It’s wonderful for relieving leg cramps!

 Duffle Bag

A duffle bag is needed for a hospital bag.

You could always use a backpack as well… But depending on how much you pack for labor and delivery a backpack may be too small.

For my first pregnancy we had 2 duffle bags.  One for me and one for my husband.

Plus, we packed a diaper bag for everything we needed for baby!

Natural Sleep Aid

Restful sleep during the third trimester is almost non-existent!

It’s difficult to get comfortable, let alone trying to turn over with a large belly.

To combat this I need a natural sleep aid that promotes restfulness.

There are many natural options for a restful night’s sleep:

  1. Melatonin
  2. Magnesium
  3. Lavender
  4. L-Theanine

Final Thoughts

The third trimester is a mix of excitement and unbearableness.

Many women hold the same opinion that by far this trimester feels like it goes on forever.

That’s because our bodies have been stretched to the limits and we’re carrying a baby the size of a watermelon!

While you are excited to meet your new bundle of joy, it’s ok to admit you’re feeling miserable.

Trust me, I let my husband know when pregnancy aches and pains start in!

What’s important is how you go about relieving and reducing third trimester symptoms.

You don’t have to grin and bear it!

Many of the 15 products listed above can provide you with much needed comfort.

Other products are specifically for easing your own piece of mind for when your baby decides to arrive.

It’s a bad scenario if your baby is born, but you didn’t buy a breast pump or baby bottles yet.

I ran into this situation myself with my firstborn.  Determined to fully breastfeed, I didn’t purchase a breast pump.

Unfortunately, my little man would not latch properly so I had to run out and buy a breast pump last minute.  Not fun!

For your third trimester you need to be comfortable and stress free!

All these products are guaranteed to lower your stress and make preggo life more comfortable for you!
